Established in 2001, and moving to larger premises in 2015, Michelle Moss School of Performing Arts is proud of its successes.
We offer classes in a huge variety of Dance styles, and in Drama, Singing, and Musical Theatre, from 2-year-olds to adults, across the full range of ability from those with no experience right up to those auditioning for Higher and Further Education at Vocational Schools and Performing Arts Colleges.
Whether a student is looking for an enjoyable hobby, fitness, friendships, or a career, the MMSOPA is there to help and support every step of the way.
We have excellent pass rates in our examinations, and students take grades from various awarding bodies including the Royal Academy of Dance (Ballet), the International Dance Teachers’ Association (Tap, Modern/Jazz, Acro,) and LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) for Singing and Drama. After each set of exams is complete, we start work on our Show, which includes all classes in the school and is performed in the Mitchell Arts Centre in Hanley. After the Show, it’s back to work on the next level of Exams.
In addition to exam and show work, we also have very successful Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Musical Theatre and Singing competition teams, and an Events class which performs at various local events such as fetes and Christmas Light switch-ons, and also Nationally and Internationally, including Blackpool Winter Gardens, Her Majesty’s Theatre in London, Disneyland Paris and on a Mediterranean Cruise ship.
Students from the MMSOPA have successfully auditioned to undertake Associate and Full-time courses at some of the country’s leading Performing Arts Schools, performed with local and national dance and theatre companies, taken up professional careers in the industry, and gained teaching qualifications. Every year, we support various local charities, either with sponsored events or with performances at charity events. So far in 2019, our Events group has performed at Tesco Longton at the Dance Beats Event,
